'Designing Out Crime' with a Continental Flavour

The Politecnico di Milano, who visited Design for Security in 2009, have released a handbook entitled 'Planning, Urban Design and Management: Crime Prevention', which is an annex to a 2007 report titled 'Prevention of Crime by Urban Planning', released by CEN (European Committee of Standardisation).

The handbook aims to assist industry practitioners such as architects, planners, and engineers in developing design solutions conducive to a safe built environment.

This document, whilst not policy, provides an insight in to crime prevention outside the UK, and the importance of interlinking security and planning processes. To read the full English text report in PDF, click here.
