Crime Impact Statement scoops SBD Innovation Award 2010
Design for Security are proud to announce that our Crime Impact Statement, a requirement to accompany major planning applications across all ten Greater Manchester local planning authorities, has been awarded the 'Secured by Design Innovation Award' for 2010. The award was presented on the 27th January 2010, by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), at the national SBD Training Event held in Nottingham.
This award signifies the success achieved by Design for Security, both in developing their service, and delivering secure schemes across Greater Manchester.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those applicants who have engaged with our Crime Impact Statement process and to the local authorities for facilitating this important pre-planning consultation method so keenly.
To build upon our now-award-winning service, Design for Security can announce that work is well underway in developing a new Crime Impact Statement model for 2010. Reinforced by work undertaken by Leanne Monchuk, researcher in Criminology at the University of Huddersfield, the new model for the CIS will feature much more in-depth crime analysis to provide a superior contextual background. This will enable us to deliver a greatly improved service and continue to direct the integration of safety and security in to schemes at the pre-planning stage, ensuring a smooth application process.
